This should really be on Johann's blog --
But he is currently frustrated with Blogger. Apparently, he wanted to post an entry (after months of no updates) and Blogger kept failing on him plus our internet connection is still wonky. =(
My hubby has realized one of his lifelong dreams -- to build Gundam kits. Even before Seth, we loved visiting toy stores and Johann would always make a beeline for the Gundam/Model kits section. When we were on our honeymoon, he was so tempted to buy one of those small kits for children (the one that comes with candy) but he decided to get a Naruto figure at the last minute.
This Christmas, my youngest bro decided to get him a model kit from Japan. You should've seen Johann's face light up when he saw what his gift was for Christmas.
The next thing he had to do was to find a place to work -- a work nook -- he couldn't have one in our room because of Seth. (He might grab on to something small and swallow it. O_O) So Johann took over a table in my sister's room.
He completed the Gundam in two nights -- this is with Seth-related interruptions.
A few days after Christmas, he told me that he wanted to go shopping for "tools" -- a cutter and something small that he can use to stick the decals on the finished kits. He also needed something to sand the edges to make them smoother.
So we went out and bought a cutter from National Bookstore, a pair of tweezers and a nail file. The last two being unconventional tools to use when building Gundam kits, but it really does the job. ^_^
My youngest bro got him the Abyss Gundam. My sister bought him the Sword Impulse Gundam for his birthday and he bought himself the Duel Gundam Assaultshroud.
When I asked him if I should start building a cabinet for this growing collection, he told me that he's stopping after he gets the Gundam kits from the Gundam Seed Stargazer series.

Franken-Fish Update (final) --
The fish is alive. Really and truly alive. When the cook tried to get it from the aquarium, it wriggled out of her hands.
So it is there now, merrily swimming away.
Damned creepy fish.

I used to collect Gundams, the way Bud collected Zoids; my favorite was the Heavy Arms Gundam, the one which just bristled with guns and missiles. Most of them are packed away at the moment, though.
ohmygod, my brother loves those models! I think, after art supplies, gundam model kits were a huge chunk off his sweldo. all his kits are stacked in his tiny room to the ceiling! I think he's got from the classic gundam era pa!
Hi, Eric!
I didn't know that. Which series did you collect/build?
Hi, MrsHobbes!
Does your brother (re)paint his models? Johann wants to but he doesn't have the skills yet so he contents himself with sticking the decals on.
Btw, I added you to my link list. (Hope that's ok. ^_^)
I got a bunch of untouched model kits stacked here. I'm not good at painting yet so I'm stuck with spray cans and Gundam markers before I can get my own compressor. Spray cans have limited colors though, good thing Zaku colors are readily available. XD My boyfriend is an expert in making these kits. Hehe.
hi tin! sorry only read your reply to my post today! yes, my brother paints his gundams (there are even specialty markers and color pens that he gets from somewhere in greenhills), leaves them to dry overnight and is a happy camper in the morning.
i just finished watching gundam seed/seed destiny myself so it's nice to see all the gundams perched everywhere in his room. my hubby is plowing through seed destiny now (you can't imagine how much he HATES shinn asuka)
and of course, put me on your list! antagal ka nga nasa akin :)
